The road at this point is at 2650m – the highest point on my journey from Gilgel to Bahir Dar.

Wedding near Karr ridge
I had to cross this 30km long ridge and drop 700m to get to Gilgel.

Lake Tana, Bahir Dar
Bahir Dar is a large town on the southern edge of the lake and is 6 hours drive from Gilgel, but is the nearest airport and source of foreign food.

Towards the end of the dry season everything gets burned for square kilometers around the village.
